Ever since I heard this track I was waiting for Flo to jump on this. The guy is a complete fiend for Dr. Luke beats.

Electro, Hip-Hop | ELECTRO | Chris Brown and Benny Benassi
Posted by GMONEY on January 16, 2011
Last night Chris Brown confirmed that his newest “pop” single will be “Beautiful People,” a track produced by Benny Benassi. As well all know, the electronic touch is exponentially altering the mainstream music scene. This track is proof that such changes are certainly positive. Posted above is a video of Benassi dropping the track during a New Years Eve celebration at Stereo Live in Houston, Texas. The 5:04 mark is where this new banger hits.

As I am sure many of you know, Beatportal is currently holding a remix competition for “TimeBomb” by Laidback Luke which features Jonathan Mendelsohn. DJ M2 (who you might remember from FNT’s NYE rager with AOE) and Adam1Time, both prepared some siiick entries to this competition and they are included below for your listening pleasure. Unfortunately M2 didn’t make the submission deadline so we have included his track for download, and if you would like your very own copy of Adam’s track shoot him and email with a screenshot of you voting for him: [email protected]

Electro, House | HOUSE | Avicii Update
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 15, 2011

Neither of these Avicii songs have been officially released yet so I had to rip these off the essential mix that JewcieCat posted here. Swede Dreams is a bannggerrrrr I can’t wait for the 320 version to drop on beatport so I can hear it on some loud bass thumping heart stopping speakers. Shouts to our huge FNT fan, J-Pat, who got to see Avicii live for NYE. Bastard.

Albums, Electro, Mashups | ELECTRO | Edward Sharpe, M.I.A., and Aoki

NYU students love indie music. At least one track related to the genre is bound to pop up on any given playlist, during the occasional apartment party. I first heard Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroe’s song, “Home,” while out at one of said parties, a few months back. Although I typically shy away from bands such as this, the track proved otherwise. DJ Whole-Z capitalized on “Home’s” popularity by remixing the track into an electro banger. The beginning is slow, much like the original song, but the drop is pretty sick.

2010 didn’t play out so well for M.I.A.. We’re all sick of her remixes (if my girlfriends play a version of “Paper Planes” again, I may keel over). Two weeks after dropping her [decent] mixtape entitled “Vicki Leekz,” M.I.A. has released a new EP with four remixes of her song “Internet Connection.” Two of said remixes, by Flux Pavillion and Huoratron Rum Aid, are posted below and deserve some recognition.

Unfortunately I missed Steve Aoki’s Friday night return to Surrender while out in Vegas. The below remixes of “Wake Up Call” have helped me get over it.
