Atlanta Rising TalentCi Majr drops debut EP

Posted by on April 19, 2021

In keeping with the bright and sparkling pop soundscapes and narrative lyricism Ci Majr introduced us to through the addictive “Summer Drug” and scintillating indie anthem, “Guillotine”, Ci Majr returns to further unpack the good, the bad and the ugly of romantic love in her dazzling and highly anticipated EP, Side Effects. As Ci Majr’s first full-length project of this kind and her third release of what has been a very strong year for the upcoming singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, the Side Effects EP is somewhat of a magnum opus for the Atlanta native, the journey to which has been a labor of love amongst friends, resulting in a specially curated, 5-track project several years in the making. Sticking to her well-loved approach of narrative and widely relatable songwriting, Ci Majr presents fans and listeners with a bittersweet project which ebbs and flows from track to track, immersing the listener in dramatic storylines, endearing characters and lovestruck misadventures. In Ci Majr’s characteristically warm and charming nature, Side Effects sees Ci Majr explore the thrilling highs and bitter lows of romantic love over shimmering pop beats and playful piano chords, delicately narrating the life cycle of a passionate but short-lived relationship, from its conception into its afterlife, each track with its own unique story and point of view. Tune into the EP above now and read a quote from Ci Majr below now!

“By late summer of 2020, I had about 20 demos and realized it was time for me to put out my first project. I talked to my friend Féz about it who helped me narrow it down to 5 and he agreed to produce the project. It’s really cool because Féz even described how there are some musical themes and instruments he used to tie it all together and I just love how it truly feels like a very well rounded body of pop songs. The visuals were also a very important part of creating the EP. I found Maggy Swain on Instagram and she just had this ethereal/dreamy style of photography that is just so eye-catching and gorgeous.” – Ci Majr
