Dubstep, Hip-Hop | XV & Skrillex – Boss Level

Posted by on October 11, 2011

Well this is a surprise coming from XV. He’s always been one to search outside the box when it comes to production, but Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites might be a little out of his safe-zone. You be the judge…

Hip-Hop | Kinetics & One Love – If I Die Young (Remix)

Posted by on September 19, 2011

Kinetic & One Love are the hottest thing since sliced bread. I am a fan of Sam Adams, Chris Webby, XV, and all the other hot up and coming hip-hop artists, but none in my mind compare to the mic killer, Kinetics. I wont lie, I am a big fan of the original of “If I Die Young.” Kinetics & One Love did an incredible job remixing this track.

Hip-Hop | XV – Hoop Dreams, Lupe Fiasco – Carrera Lu

Holy NBA wordplay.  The Squarian King just keeps pouring them out. I’m starting to lose count, what is this like 5 tracks in 10 days? If you’re a basketball fan, you’re going to love this new cut from XV.  Personally I’m a huge fan of sports inspired hip-hop songs and this is one of the best I’ve heard.  Wale & J. Cole are two of my favorites for making athletic references, but XV holds his own on this one produced for anyone who ever had dreams of being a pro baller.  A tight beat, a short Biggie sample, and ridiculously clever basketball wordplay sums up this track. Follow our boy on Twitter.

Here’s an older bonus track from Lupe’s debut album, Food & Liquor, as Monday will mark the 5th year anniversary of the release.  I apologize for the sub par quality, I’ll work on getting you guys a CDQ.

*BONUS*

While we’re on the topic of sports inspired hip-hop tracks, here’s one i’ve been high on lately that some of you may have missed.  Wale released this track, “Varsity Blues” on his recent mixtape, The Eleven One Eleven Theory, and just like the ’99 football flick, revolves around football.

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop, Videos | XV – Wichita (Music Video)

Posted by on September 13, 2011

Quite possibly the only substantial talent coming out of Kansas that I’m aware of, XV continues his recent tear, releasing the visuals for one of his most popular singles off his Zero Heroes mixtape.  Although the song itself is a bit dated, XV takes to his roots to show some visual love to his hometown people over the real smooth Just Blaze production.  XV linked up with FTS Creative for the video, who you may recognize from their work with The Dean’s List and/or Aziz, as this video once again does not disappoint.  If you’ve put off downloading Zero Heroes for the past 6 months or so, I’d advise you to move that mouse and download it here.

Hip-Hop | XV ft. Trae Tha Truth, Fabolous

3rd track this week. I understand that Vizzy is trying to prove to everyone that hes doing work in the studio, but at this point I feel like we need sometime to digest all these quality tracks that he is putting out. Of the three tracks he’s put out this week, which one is your favorite? Sound off in the comments section.

Hip-Hop | XV – The Kick

Posted by on September 7, 2011

Two new XV tracks in 3 days? Hey, I ain’t complaining. This track seems a bit more personal than Monday’s track, BITSTU. Between the album art and the lyrical content, it seems as if The Kick is an Inception reference. Press play below if you’re looking for some food-for-thought.

In a game full of sharks, but there ain’t no cheat codes…

Hip-Hop | XV – BITSTU Freestyle (Back In The STUDIO)

Our boy Vizzy has been off the map for a while now due to a pretty packed tour schedule. Even after his long absence he’s been able to retain a solid buzz as a result of dope mixtape, Zero Heroes, which was released back in April. Here are some new bars from XV over a rendition of Drake’s Dreams Money Can Buy.
