Tommy Trash’s new single, formerly known as Mad Max, “HEX” with Wax Motif of all people is now out via Nicky Romero’s Protocol Recordings. One of his long awaited tracks, he brings on fellow Aussie and trashed tour teammate Wax Motif for the collab that has all of the hallmarks of a classic Trashman tune. Who knows how long ago he made this, but that gritty, rolling bass line that was his calling card is back and I love it. It sounds different enough to be fresh, but stays true to what he has been over the years.

The last time I saw Wax Motif he was doing a “secret” b2b2b set in this side room at EDC NY with Tommy Trash and Destructo playing some cool house tunes and techno, much like this one. Now he teams up with Colorado based producer Hunter Siegel for this new heater “All Night Man” that samples Big Boi’s classic tune “Kryptonite“. Last year (RED) partnered with Tiësto and Stereosonic to bring an album filled with the best tracks of the year. This time around, the 24-track album features almost entirely new music for the measly price of $9.99 with some dance music’s best, and for a great cause. The album has new tracks from the likes of Dada Life, DallasK, Popeska, Pierce Fulton, Tommy Trash, Felix Cartal, Candyland and much more. My sleeper pick from the album is Eric Prydz’s edit of Deadmau5’s “The Veldt” that he made for his US last summer and some how managed to sneak onto the album with little, to no fanfare. In the midst of the Hounds Of Hell tour with Wolfgang Gartner, Tommy Trash has unleashed a rare free download for his fans. As you may remember, EDC Las Vegas 2012 had some wind issues that forced the festival to be shut down, (E Zoo will be fine), and Tommy is expressing his displeasure with how nature took control of events. The track has hints of the vintage Tommy Trash sound, while offering something new from himself, a refreshing change of pace for the Australian’s discography. So the story behind this song is a bit confusing, but I have slowly started to piece together what is going on here. 9Five is a Swedish duo that have remained under the radar to many people, but are ready to burst onto the scene with a hard drive filled with outstanding IDs. This edit you may recognize from Axwell’s Carlsberg “Where’s The Party” ad last year that really shocked people with its in your face style not familiar to what Axwell normally produces, while more acute listeners IDed it as an edit of Sebastian Ingrosso & Steve Angello‘s “555?. We have waited a long time for any info on this track and for it to be released like this is outstanding. It has already been supported by the likes of Axwell and Tommy Trash, with that list surely expected to grow. Now out for free download, you would be remiss not to immediately get this free download from 9Five that is sure to explode soon.
