Reminiscent of Lyfe Jennings, if you’re familiar, this guy Tom Misch makes music for the soul, and Jordan Rakei’s vocals elevate his latest single “Wake Up This Day” off his upcoming project Beat Tape 2 to new heights. I am and always will be a jazz guy, something about the free flow of that genre, that makes me happy, it has no boundaries, which allows for spontaneity, and improvisation, and if I didn’t know better I’d think “Wake Up This Day” was recorded in one take, everyone just jamming out, with the mics on to bring us this moment in time.
