Einstein once said, “Not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted counts.” In layman’s terms; quality > quantity. I wont go as far as saying Skizzy took a page from Einstein’s book (yet), but he certainly understands the principles. As I’ve said before, Skizzy doesn’t strike as often as some artists, but he consistently delivers quality music. The latest single, “Pay For You”, features O-Towns debonair rapper, G-Eazy, who lends both production as well as a verse on this track along with American Idol contestant, Devon Baldwin. Finally, after months of waiting, we receive the first glimpse of Skizzy Mars’ highly anticipated mixtape Phases. Produced and featured by Conner Youngblood, the track has a nice relaxed and mellow vibe to it with some classic Skiz verses. Very interested to hear the rest of Phases, especially after this long of a wait.

Skizzy Mars has been on fire in 2012. Quality over quantity is certainly the motto (COQ). With his newest release, and spark plug for his weekly series “Happy Mondays”, Skizzy delivers “High School Girls”. While the search for what we want can often be indecisive, there’s no second guessing Skizzy’s path in life. As long as these high school girls serve as motivation to find perfection rather than a distractive discourse, keep enlightening us on the female teenage breed. With the highly anticipated mixtape, Phases, on the way, expect a lot more great music coming very soon.

That unique Skiz flow is highlighted by the relaxing intro, then is taken up a notch with the great electronic synths during the chorus. Alright, so you know from my previous posts that I’m a big Skizzy Mars fan. What you might not know is that this song is actually a remake of one of Skizzy’s earliest songs he ever recorded. Again we get the usual Skiz flow with a good beat but this time its produced by Jesse of Upper West. Scoop it and look back for Phases.

Skizzy Mars is easily becoming one of my new favorite rappers. He has a flow so unique and his lyrics are always on point. This time Skiz changes it up on us and goes with a more Electro beat but it doesn’t disappoint. Definitely look out for his new mixtape “Phases”, which will be coming out soon.
