Paul Oakenfold made his fame with heart facing, high bpm acid, psytrance, but also had the ability to successfully cross over into more mainstream genres with more of his album material. With “Higher” we see him do just that and work with Canadian producer & Dj duo Project 46 on this melodic, uplifting big room track. Daphne’s vocals are the icing on the cake for this sublime melody put together by Paul Oakenfold and Project 46.

Progressive House | Project 46 – Feel The Fire

Posted by on November 5, 2012

Coming off their heavily supported collab with DubVision, “You & I“, the pancake loving Canadian duo, Project 46 deliver their next single on Zouk Recordings “Feel The Fire”. The track combines infectious male vocals with a smooth, uplifting melody showing us that while Canada may be dominated by a man with a mau5 head, there is other talent in town. Every Friday they make it “Pancake Friday” and give away a free track and this original was a byproduct of one of these Fridays a week or two back.

House | Lift Off #005

Posted by on October 16, 2012

We are back with the 5th edition of Lift Off. Me and w8 have provided you with a bevy of quality tracks, the vast majority of them being free — something I know you all love so much. So without further ado get right into it because your ears have work to do. The Hardwell supported, Dannic remix of HELENA’s track with Mr. Wilson “Girl From The Sky” gives us his take on the track, bolstering the melody by giving synths a fuller body and more anthemic feel. The vocal has been released for free, so DJs go for it.

Betatraxx and Morten Breum combine on “Get Static” the first single on Betatraxx’s “Mercury” EP that combines a whole host of different styles from heavy electro to more more subtle piano and string builds. This superb production provides a breath of air with its eclectic sounds.

Primacy Funk gets a two spot on the 5th edition of Lift Off, first with this track that utilizes blissful chords to create this feel good track.

Next up we have the enigmatic Russian Erik Taylor better known to the world as Archie, who has of late failed in some aspects to live up to lofty expectations set by his early productions, but this time he switches it up a little combining guitar with his signature Archie sound.

Next we get into bit more of an emotive melody from Lars, combining infectious vocals with a superb piano melody.

Progressive House | Project 46 & DubVision feat. Donna Lewis – You & I

Posted by on September 17, 2012

Project 46 & DubVision come together with Donna Lewis on the vocals to give us this sublime progressive house track “You & I”. Project 46 has been a growing name in the industry with a high release rate of top notch progressive tracks. DubVision, recently tabbed by Axwell as his favorite producer, was first put on the map with their incredibly successful single “All By Myself” and have followed with a massive remix of Aiden Grimshaw – Is This Love. “You & I”, supported by Kaskade, Sander van Doorn and others, will be a great stepping stone for not only Project 46 as their first major label release, but also Dubvision as they gear up for their upcoming remix on Axtone.

Progressive House | Usher – Scream (Pierce Fulton Remix) [Preview]

Posted by on July 23, 2012

When I first saw that Pierce Fulton had done this remix, I was a bit surprised and really had no idea what to expect. Listening to his past releases, I knew he could make some catchy, progressive stuff and with his talent, a great remix of a pop song was very easily within reach. However this is not a man who is just going to mail this one in, as you saw in his latest video where he locks away a song forever because “It isn’t perfect enough”. I was incredibly impressed from the opening of the remix with his ability to manipulate Usher’s powerful vocals and create a melody that fits the track and does not overpower the rest of the track. The remix starts with the emotion of Usher’s vocals and a soft, slow piano progression that slowly increases in speed and volume with the chorus into a drop with an uplifting synth melody, a pitched arp for layering and complexity, a steady bass line and vocal bits to round it all out. Release date is not known yet, but expect this package to be out soon. Also be sure to check out the upbeat progressive take from Project 46 and the remix from R3hab with liberal use of saws.
