Electro-House | Dyro – Leprechauns & Unicorns

Dyro - Leprechauns & Unicorns

Dyro has been creating quite the buzz recently, with his single with Hardwell “Never Say Goodbye” getting its world premier at Ultra, his collaboration with Bassjackers, “Grid” remaining a staple of sets for months and having released a slew of remixes for the likes of Tiesto, Gabriel & Dresden & more.

“Leprechauns & Unicorns” gives us a new spin on the gritty, Dyro sound that we have to come to love and behold with brooding, pulsing saws, a thumping bass line and pitched synths that round out the formula for Dyro’s next massive track. The two fairytale animals seem too nice for such a grimy, intense track, maybe Dyro has been watching the “Leprechaun” movies of late on his long flights around the world. Leprechaun in the Hood with Ice-T and Leprechaun in Space are both quality films, 5 stars, if anyone was wondering.

Progressive House | Monsta – Messiah (Dirty South Remix)

Having been previewed a few weeks ago, Dirty South releases his remix for UK trio Monsta‘s single “Messiah”. The mighty Australian, Dirty South is still riding high in 2013 with the release of his debut artist album “Speed of Life” and looks to continue that dominance with this remix. While the previously released Alvin Risk remix and the upcoming Feed Me remix will be more favorable for more bass heavy palates, Dirty South brings his uplifting style to the track, giving it a whole sound.

Dirty South brings us back with this remix, recalling his sound found in the 2008-2010 with tracks like his remixes of “Sorry” and “Sweet Disposition” and his single “Phazing“. The addictive, piano driven melody meshes perfectly with the soulful vocals, as Dirty South shows us once again that he one of premier producers around.

In its 5th Year, Made Event‘s Electric Zoo recently announced its plan to create two main stages to try and augment the festival-goers experience and cements its place among the premier festivals nationwide. We are in the midst of a production and creativity arms race by various promotion companies like Ultra and Insomniac that are pushing the boundaries of what is possible every year. This latest attempt to do so by Made Event as it tries to compete with Ultra and EDC and their festival experiences is a great step in the right direction. Logistically, it will be interesting to see how they pull it off with the limited space on Randall’s Island. Today they announced the acts gracing the “East” and “West” main stages and they are working to give you your 330 dollars worth with names like Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Avicii, W&W, Tiesto, Madeon, Bassnectar, Hardwell, Diplo, Sebastian Ingrosso, and many more all heading to New York City for this Labor Day Weekend extravaganza. We are looking forward to seeing what comes from the rest of the stages. You have to give credit to E Zoo for announcing artist info so early, something very rare nowadays. Tickets are on sale now, so get them here.

Progressive House, Trance | Armin van Buuren feat. Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like (Original + W&W Remix)

With his fifth studio album “Intense” set for release May 3rd, Armin van Buuren has released the first single “This Is What It Feels Like” from the album with Trevor Guthrie on vocals. Getting its premier on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection, “This Is What It Feels Like” is a departure from the more traditional trance roots that has made Armin van Buuren the beloved figure he is today, but as he has stated time and time again “Don’t be a prisoner to your own style”. I was a little skeptical at first, but the emotion and big melodies won me over and after seeing Trevor Guthrie perform it live at Madison Square Garden, I could’t help but love this tune.

There are few producers hotter than W&W right now. Their bombastic beats have taken the world by storm, becoming staples of mainstage and hard core trance sets alike. Their remix of “This Is What It Feels Like” got its fitting premier on the main stage at Ultra and has been a potent weapon for Armin at all of his shows since. W&W continue to show with this remix that their thunderous bass lines and booming synths are some of the most effective being made right now and show no signs of letting up. In other news, Armin revealed the tracklist for “Intense”, which you can check out after the jump.

Events, Review, Trance | The Expedition’s Trance Takeover of Madison Square Garden

Wow, Wichita State is crushing Ohio State. This is not even close, who woulda thunk it. The bartender refills my glass as I watch the Shockers do just that, shock the basketball world and everyone’s bracket. Man was mine totally ruined, but at least I wasn’t the guy who picked georgetown to go all the way — dunk city. I look at my phone, 8:10. I am pushing the limit of how long I can stay at the bar because I need to get over to Madison Square Garden and sneak down past some security guards to a seat that isn’t in the obstructed view section. I close out and head over to the Garden to navigate the line and get inside.

The line is nonexistent, so I walk through and head up to the first level to probe the defenses of the seat security like a prized fighter trying to find the weak spot of my enemy. I see some other people dancing the same dance I am and as a group we would like to thank the kid in the teal tank who was escorted out of section 102 and left the entrance unguarded, letting the stream of approximately me and 4 other kids into the section. Thank you, because my seat put me dead center and I could see the entire arena laid out in front of me.

Progressive House | Deniz Koyu – Rage

Posted by on March 25, 2013

Deniz Koyu rarely misses when he releases a single with tracks like “Bong”, Tung”, “Follow You” and “Hertz” all under his belt and “Rage” is no different. With its premier coming from the now split up Swedish House Mafia, “Rage” displays some of the sounds we know from the Turkish / German producer, but with a new, tougher twist. With gruff riffs, slowed down builds and peaktime energy destined for the festival stage, “Rage” has all of the ingredients to be Deniz Koyu’s next big hit.
