Albums | Cryptic producer Modapit drops techno-inspired single “Out Of Control” alongside hypnotizing vertical music video

Posted by on April 24, 2023

Newly-minted producer Modapit is evolving in real time. In January, the secretive artist emerged from the shadows of underground dance music, boasting a gothic, edgy streetwear look contrasting their euphoric, swirling pop-electronic sounds. Shrouded in their signature fishnet veil, the Modapit project has been defined by expertly crafted secrecy – an anonymous identity that has stirred their feverish online fanbase. The mystery has also provided Modapit a sense of creative freedom: by removing the ‘ego’ from the artist, Modapit’s music and fashion-forward aesthetic have become the central focus of the project.

The confidential nature of the Modapit project has also allowed the producer to remain amorphous – by avoiding a defined identity, Modapit can remain an idea that traverses the dance music canon, exploring new sounds and styles in pursuit of becoming a multi-dimensional artistic project.

Modapit is revving up towards their debut album, a full-length project that promises to further spotlight the producer’s bold and diverse electronic music vision. By embracing the beauty of creative partnership, the LP will reflect the deeply collaborative tenets of the Modapit brand. Filmmakers David Borges and Carlos Perez have helped build out the Modapit universe, developing a stark visual aesthetic surrounding the producer’s mind-melding dance sonics. All together, they’ve crafted a funeral-rave vibe – a defining artistic ethos representing Modapit’s out-of-the-box approach and propensity towards detailed world-building.

Today, Modapit unveils their newest single “Out Of Control,” a transition into a darker, more European techno-inspired side of the Modapit project. Filled to the brim with rolling basslines, euphoric vocal samples, and pulsating, hard-hitting drums, “Out Of Control” is an acute exercise in vivid, brooding dance music catharsis.

Out Of Control” kicks off with ethereal synth pads before quickly introducing stuttering vocal samples, rumbling bass, and heart-racing risers. The track then drops into its infectious, booming beat – a dance-floor igniting rager consisting of scintillating high-hats, driving percussion, huge, thumping kick drums, and tone-setting, acid synths.

Out Of Control” fleshes out the Modapit sound into new terrain. Having already showcased a pristine sensibility towards lavish pop-electronic bangers, this new track reflects the environment of an energetic, raw Modapit live set.

The track releases alongside a spellbinding video with footage from Sakatisk. Presented vertically and in stunning black-and-white, the “Out Of Control” video displays stylish dancefloor denizens dancing in a club setting. With glitchy, captivating editing, the video is  a hypnotizing companion to the track’s dark, underground vibes.

Electronic | Matoma & A R I Z O N A Release Music Video for “Heart So Big”

Posted by on May 24, 2022

Norwegian DJ and producer Matoma has released the heartwarming music video for his and electronic dance-pop trio A R I ZO N A’s single “Heart So Big.” The track was written with A R I Z O N A’s longtime collaborator PJ Bianco as a love letter to his son with autism and the video is crowdsourced from over 2,000 fan submissions of raw footage of pure happiness.

Matoma shares, “I couldn’t imagine a better music video for this special song than this! It truly brought me to tears to feel all the love in these incredible videos, like little glimpses into the hearts and memories of people all over the world. Like the song, it’s a reminder to treasure the good that we have in our lives, and that we are all connected by that common joy.”

A R I Z O N A shares, “This song, along with the hopes of raising autism awareness, carries a special notion in general that we should remember to cherish and protect the ones we love in our lives. Sometimes we can be all they have, or vice versa.”

The positivity in the song comes as no surprise to Matoma fans, as he is recognized globally for his charity work behind the music. He recently headlined Gravity Festival and used his performance to raise money for Red CrossUkraine Crisis Appeal. His livestream raised $10,000 USD in just 45 minutes, breaking past records for the festival; and he decided to match the donations personally.
Following that heartfelt livestream, he purchased three billboards on the i-10 highway to Coachella; originally intended for promoting his new music, but with the tragic war continuing in Ukraine, he decided to put them towards raising funds and awareness for Ukraine humanitarian aid organization Music Saves UA, which received worldwide news coverage.

R&B | Rising R&B Artist Lina Nikol Embraces Desire In Steamy New Single “Get It On”

Posted by on March 31, 2021

We’ve all experienced it, the raw attraction toward another person that takes your breath away. On Friday March 26th, singer-songwriter, Lina Nikol, paints that emotion so clearly in her steamy new single “Get It On.” The song starts off a bit timid and shy, but then immediately introduces the sound of vital signs as the heart flutters awake. “Get it On” does the perfect job of embodying the burning desire to satisfy an unexplainable connection.

“The song is a confession about the uncontrolled desire to love someone. It’s about the feeling that draws you to a person, but you can’t really put it into words why. You just need to be with him/her. We’ve all been there – the feeling of a really deep connection, raw emotion, and it’s not necessarily with a person you know well,” said Lina Nikol.

“Get it On” is the lead track for her upcoming album “Who I Am”.  After already recording 7 tracks of her album, she knew right away this would be the single. The idea begins with a melody she keeps humming and records as a voice note. Two quick phone calls later and the dynamic production introduced by BOYAN, brought the sultry tune to life. The steamy lyrics, “Silky smooth like honey dripping from the hive,” vividly display what it feels like to experience a profound connection. Inspired by the likes of NAO, Sinead Harnett, Kyle Dion and many more, BOYAN’s powerful production and Lina’s lush vocals make the new single feel like a mix of classic 90’s R&B and the current modern sound that has developed through new production techniques.

Accompanying the single is the stylistic music video to bring the simplicity of raw chemistry to life eloquently. As the video begins, Lina creates a dream-like scene that depicts a woman fantasizing about a desire to act on her feelings, ebbing and flowing with the track. The light colors paralleled with the darker scene display your thoughts before you take action and get to business. The video’s raw dynamic compliments the new single perfectly.
Most recently heard on Live In Session BBC Radio, Lina has garnered the attention of classic R&B outlets such as You Know I Got Soul and Soultracks. Her music can even be heard on a highly acclaimed UK compilation, So Soulful Collection Volume 3. Lina Nikol seeks to bring back powerful vocal riffs and sexy rhythms to R&B music while keeping the sound fresh and innovative. The release of “Get It On” is just the beginning of what this new powerhouse artist has to offer the world.

Albums | Sam Lachow releases visually enticing music video for “Fifteen Pennies”

Posted by on April 28, 2020

After creating the hard-hitting track, “Fifteen Pennies”, it was important that Sam Lachow produced a glowing visual and this music video doesn’t waste time getting down to business.  The Alice in Wonderland-influence visual is a breathe of fresh air, and trippy as hell. Lachow had to say the following on the release: ““A rumination on finding one’s true self within a never-ending hamster wheel of American industriousness. How much of the hustle is innate and how much is taught? And does it even matter? What’s the end goal to all this and what’s our objective? If it’s just money then why do we repeatedly get caught in these self created distractions and vices?” Watch now above.
