Moombah Mondays

Sev’s got a test to study for so I am bringing you Moombah Mondays tonight. This is a big week for moombahton, with the giant cluster of amazing that is Hard Miami Moombahton Massive happening on Wednesday (D.C. represent…but seriously if you’re in Miami on Wednesday you’d be crazy to miss that) and, of course, tons of artists performing at Ultra over the weekend. No better way to kick it off than with some fresh bangers, so let’s dig right in.

First off, Bro Safari just dropped a remix of SPL’s “Back At It” and you really need to give this one a listen. This track has been getting airtime in a lot of sets recently and for good reason — it goes incredibly hard and brings that funked out moombah vibe to another level. Preview it below or download it on Beatport.

Next up are two awesome tracks from Cyberpunkers. “Dungeon” is probably my favorite track this week — it’s grade A moombahcore and delivers heavy distortions, catchy leads and a swinging bassline. You can’t listen to this and not want to dance.

This second Cyberpunkers track is on par with the above — the break after the drop is basically filthy. Who are these guys and why had I never heard of them before tonight? Their production is dope.

Lots more goodness after the jump…

Notixx’s “Get Up!” is right behind “Dungeons” for favorite track of the week — this one will get your blood flowing with high lasers and some choppy sampling.

Nick Thayer and A.Skillz team up for a funky take on Foreigner’s 70’s ballad-y rock classic “Cold as Ice.” This track is a bit atypical but a great listen nonetheless — plus you’ve got to appreciate how moombahton is in an almost constant state of flux. For a relatively young genre, it’s already managed to evolve in so many different directions.

I love LeDoom’s stuff and his latest is no exception. Not quite moombahcore but still dirty. You can download it here.

Crowd Control’s “Arm of the Devil” also brings the filth. Lasers and wobbles are a killer combination.

Finally, I leave you with the official Hard Fest Miami Moombahton Massive preview mix, brought to you by none other than Nadastrom and Sabo. This mix is packed with all the heavyweights — it opens with Nadastrom’s “i!!,” probably my favorite moombahton track of all time, swings over to the inimitable “Pendejas,” and closes out with some classic fire from Sabo. If you want to bring Miami to your living room on Wednesday, put this on the speakers and turn up the bass.
