Hip-Hop, RnB | The Weeknd Uses Sheldon Scott’s “Little Bit” Produced by T-Minus

Posted by on December 10, 2011

In 2009, an artist by the name of Sheldon Scott, hailing from Toronto, Canada, appeared in our inbox as many song submissions do. This submission was different from the rest. Sheldon appeared to have no Facebook, Twitter, or Myspace (Yes, in 2009 Myspace was still being used) despite being connected with some of the biggest producers and artists in Toronto. His songs were pop perfection, incorporating poignant lyrics and catchy melodies. He was an enigma, and still remains one today.
In the submission, sent around 2009, was a track entitled, “Little Bit”, a T-Minus produced guitar-driven ballad presumably dedicated to that special someone in his life. This was not the only T-Minus produced track that we received from Sheldon at the time. Every song he sent us blew us away. We couldn’t help but think: how is this man not signed? We had heard rumors that Sheldon had been offered numerous recording contracts, but turned them down because the terms weren’t to his liking. Sheldon seemed to be in no rush to sign to a major label despite their repeated interest in him.

Fast forward to 2011. Toronto native, Abel Tesfaye, also known as the Weeknd, had made his meteoric rise with the help of Drake’s brand manager, Oliver El-Khatib. The Weeknd had been rumored to be not only working with Ill Angelo, but also Boi-1-da and T-Minus. It’s no secret that The Weeknd’s music is in high demand, as evidenced by the pre “House of Ballons” and “Thursday” leaks that have given us a glimpse into his early creations before his signature sound was carefully crafted.

Electro | Sheldon Scott- Part Time Lover x Love Me

Posted by on July 10, 2011

Sheldon Scott is perhaps the most slept on artist in the blogosphere. He doesn’t have a Twitter or a Facebook page. You think I’m kidding? Google him for yourself. Despite the fact that he doesn’t exist online and he’s a complete enigma, he has a knack for making hits. Sheldon recently sent these two cuts over exclusively that were submitted to Timbaland for his upcoming “Shock Value III” project. If you’re an artist in the pop/electronic genre that’s looking to improve on your songwriting ability, I’d study Sheldon Scott closely. Sorry, I don’t have the cliff notes version. Somebody needs to sign this guy already.

Electro, Girl Fire, RnB | Sheldon Scott- Believe

Posted by on November 5, 2010

Although Sheldon doesn’t drop tracks very often, when he does, he makes serious waves. When I asked Sheldon about the significance of the visuals above with the track he said:

Everyone can dream and everyone can achieve those dreams. Of course hard work and dedication is needed, but you must also believe and always remember. Even when it gets tough, try not to focus on the bad energy. The bad energy makes you weak, and takes away your inner strength. Instead focus on what you have done and what you need to do. The bigger the prize the bigger the sacrifice. It all starts with you and how much you are willing to do to reach your goals.

Traveling, exercising, eating right, avoiding the things that might hinder your journey are all part of the path you must take to reach your goals. No one owes you anything, but through your hard work, dedication and constancy they will come to respect and understand you as a person. Positive energy is contagious, don’t be a burden, rather, try to concentrate on eliminating the weight that negative energy and doubt cast on your shoulders and rise to the occasion.

This can only be achieved through trial and error, dedication to your craft, meditation, and learing from your mistakes. Everything you learn must be absorbed, do not ignore the path, for these lessons make you more efficient and ready you for what you are about to achieve! – Sheldon Scott

Sheldon Scott is an artist I believe in. Be sure to check out his track below and get inspired over the weekend to chase your dreams. As a bonus, I added Sheldon’s previous banger. For more tracks from the Canadian sensation, be sure to check him out here.

Sheldon Scott is hands down my favorite unknown artist right now. The track is produced by T-Minus. Shout out to Toronto.
