I’ve finally washed ashore from the sensational tidal wave that was Kaskade’s It’s You, It’s Me Redux Tour. Everything you heard about drowning in sweat, auditory immersion and house deeper than the Mariana Trench was no exaggeration in reference to what I experienced that Tuesday night at his kick off show in Dallas. I’ll do my best to recreate the atmosphere (hehe) from that show but when it comes down to it, you just have to close your eyes in dive into the music yourself. Conveniently, I’ve provided the San Diego set in it’s entirety for your listening pleasure so all you need to do is press play and come with me on my journey to the most intimate underground electronic show you’ve only seen in your wildest dreams.

FYI | Diplo & Skrillex form Jack U duo

Posted by on May 2, 2013

Diplo & Skrillex2 of the three creators of the Potato Will Eat You project, Diplo and Skrillex have decided to join forces and form a duo named Jack U. The name first came up on the lineup for the San Diego Mad Decent Block Party and caused a lot confusion, but Diplo cleared it up on twitter saying “Jack u… Means skrillex+diplo together..”. This is not their first time working together — their collaboration “Amplifire” gained buzz back in the summer of 2011, but nothing has come of it, possibly due to sample clearing issues, a hot button topic these days. They will be releasing music on the Potato Will Eat You Youtube channel and will do the occasional live show. The only show that is currently scheduled is for the San Diego edition of the Mad Decent Block Parties.

It is hard to imagine they will have the time to release that much music together since each of them have their own very busy solo careers, are already members of duos, Skrillex in Dog Blood and Diplo in Major Lazer, and tour 300+ days a year. It will be interesting to see what comes of this, but if their past innovative style is any indication, we should expect some really cool, unique music from Jack U.

Dubstep, Mixtapes | Bassnectar – Colorstorm Mixtape

Posted by on September 11, 2011

Bassnectar is the king right now. His album,”Divergent Spectrum,” destroyed charts, and was a huge step forward for dubstep. At his show last night in San Diego, he gave out a secret link to this mixtape, which is supposed to drop this tuesday. It is a mix of a few of his older tracks, remixed and mashed, including a few new tracks, and even a few tracks from artists he works with. I also find it funny that Bassnectar just dropped a zip of 11 tracks compiled that he has previously released free. You can grab that one Here on Bassnectar’s website. Best part is the fact that Excision‘s new ‘album’ drops tomorrow, and it is amazing. Only proving Bassnectar as king of dubstep.

Hip-Hop | New Linen – Forget Who You Are, DMO – Prayer | Chill Hip-Hop

Posted by on June 7, 2011

Well I know what I’ll be listening to on the beach tomorrow (all of our Dewey Beach fans stand up). New Linen’s latest work is arguable their best. I can definitely dig their vibe, the beat matched by the smooth guitar chords works perfectly with their verses.

The second featured artist, DMO, is an up and comer hailing from San Diego, Ca. His fresh flow and solid production piqued my ear, I’ll be following him in the future to see how he moves up from his solid foundation. For more information, check out DMO’s Facebook page.
