Dubstep | R Rated #47

Posted by on September 20, 2012

Vaski released this little gem a few days ago on Beatport. The vocals are in a different tone than you are use to in Dubstep, but I think that’s what I like the most about this track… besides that tasty drop.

DarkGrey is kind of a new name for me and apparently his original of this track is releasing soon on Subfix Records in 2013. Not sure how everyone else feels, but maybe he should submit this instead. The bass just pours in your ears like a waterfall, it’s awesome.

I am so happy to see Dark Elixir make a release through a label, even if it’s a Play Me freebie. He just brought it on this remix, he drops in with straight filth. Bass cannons firing with precise accuracy.

I wasn’t too sure if this could be considered R Rated material but screw it. Virtual Riot has created a few favorites of mine, this one just adds to the list. He keeps it a little poppy, but his drop says back off man I got work to do here.

I have to give PatrikReza credit for this, it is just a really cool remix. For me it just doesn’t feel right, but I just have a feeling I’m being crazy. No one ever thinks to remix Moby with Dubstep, especially not with the filth added to this remix.

Hip-Hop | Spring – Fortune Family ft. Upper West

Two groups that have made themselves unique using poppy sounds link up to create an absolutely grand song. The Sara Barellis sample sets the stage for an upbeat, fun song. The theme is further driven by quality verses from Reef and Doug. I had been hearing about this song from my man Reef for about a month. Now I know what he was so hyped about. I love everything about this song, whether its Reef’s powerful bars, or Doug’s raspy verse, Spring gets me hyped for Summer. I know this at categorized as “hip-hop” but pretend it says “hip-pop.” Hit FF on facebook here, and UW here.

Hip-Hop | K’naan ft. Nelly Furtado-Is There Anybody Out There

Posted by on January 23, 2012

K’Naan is bomb. No songs about how low his chain is or how many biddies he porks, no, just some fulfilling lyrics mixed with huge names. Nelly Furtado throwing down on the chorus mixes with K’naan’s unique style of hip hop. His EP “More Beautiful than Silence” comes out tomorrow and Nelly’s first releases in 6 years is out this spring. Poppy and uplifting “Is There Anybody Out There” embodies both artists’ styles.

Electro-House | Dev Ft. Enrique Iglesias – Naked (It’s The DJ Kue Remix!)

Posted by on December 12, 2011

DJ Kue is an animal when it comes to remixing these poppy mainstream tracks. This newest remix of his is nothing like what he has done before. Yes, it is electro-house, but he seemed to have settled on some new synths than I am use to hearing from him. The drop has some sweet electro wobbles. I think the vocals sound great on the beat he created, but for those of you who just want the instrumental, as always DJ Kue has provided.

Hip-Hop | Gym Class Heroes-The Fighter

Their third single to drop from their new album, the Papercut Chronicles II (being dropped in 1 week). It’s an infusion of One Republic’s Ryan Tedder and Travie McCoy going at it on one single. The catchy hook is poppy as always and I’m not as impressed with it as I am with the Neon Hitch collaboration. With their collaborations with Adam on Stereo Hearts, Neon Hitch with Ass Back Home and Ryan on this, I’m intrigued to see if GCH did any solo work on their album. C’mon Travie, sometimes less is more!

Hip-Hop, Reggae | Gym Class Heroes – Martyrial Girl$

Not a big fan of this one…Gym Class Heroes’s tracks usually feature a fun/poppy sound to them with guaranteed sing along choruses. This one takes a little heavier/darker approach that really isn’t cutting it for me. Thoughts?
