Flipsyde may be a new name to some, but they’re no noobs on the scene. The Oakland trio have been carving their niche in the alternative hip-hop/rock market for close to ten years, gaining a lot of their popularity from extreme sports fans and athletes. Personally, I first found out about these guys about 5 years ago and would loop their album while I was shredding semi-fresh pow pow. They were signed to Interscope for several years but recently broke out of their contract and are once again independent. I slipped on this short new track YONAS dropped to tip off the new year. YONAS has been in constant rotation on MTVU with his video for “Sky Kidz” and has also been electrifying crowds while on tour with The White Panda and Timeflies. XXL Freshman 2013?

Chiddy throws a verse on 2am Club’s alternative/pop tune, “Every Evening”. Not a huge surprise after the two toured together in the fall.

Ricky Rozay grunts his way onto this remix of Lil Wayne and Bruno Mars “Mirror”. The original served as a bonus cut off of Tha Carter IV, but has seen it’s fair share of radio play.

Such a refreshing surprise with these guys. Submissions is usually a morass of garbage (I mean really guys), it was so refreshing to here these two French DJs with some quality, uplifting progressive house. They have played big clubs all over the world including playing Miami Music Week, the biggest week in EDM. They use melodic synths, piano melodies, studders and cuts with a great control of the vocals in the songs as well as a good builds leading into euphoric, synth, piano laden drops with a strong steady bass throughout their songs to create that uplifting house feeling that has become so popular with some creativity that gives them a somewhat unique sound. Below are a few free tracks they have made including a great remix of the anthemic single from Dirty South and Thomas Gold “Alive” as well as a free remix they just released for Christmas and the New Year. Also I was given a full preview of their song that just released today that is a bomb and you can get on Beatport as well as their other songs and remixes. TGCHU recently dropped these visuals for their track, Don’t Stop. When asked about upcoming projects, Will said that they’re finishing up both a mixtape and album. The mixtape should be out in December and the album will be out before the New Year. A new track with their label-mate Andy’s iLL will be out within the coming weeks to hold us over till December.
