Fresh off his trip to L.A. for the video shoot for “Firestarter,” Kenton Dunson put together a nice little video detailing his trip as well as giving us a sneak peak of his upcoming music video and short film based on his song “Firestarter.” The music video for “Firestarter” should be released in the next couple weeks with the short film debuting shortly after.
The background music to the video is his latest release “Top of the World,” which contains a smooth Passion Pit sample and has been blazing a trail on the internet lately. You can download “Top of the World” for free here. If you have yet to check out “Firestarter” you can listen and download the song below. The song will be the first visual off his critically acclaimed Creative Destruction 2 album available for free here.

The talented Hip Hop up and comer, Kenton Dunson, who brought us the impressive project, Creative Destruction 2, has given FNT the exclusive premiere of his latest song “Top of the World,” which samples Passion Pit’s “The Reeling.” The way he flipped “The Reeling” is really something else and takes advantage of the Passion Pit’s unique synths highlighted in the beginning of the original. “Top of the World” is definitely a track to cruise around town to… windows down.
“The internet is the proving to be the most powerful tool for upcoming artists like myself. You can really see the world and when that world is moved by your art…it’s an amazing feeling. So I based the song partially from that but also wanted to release one for those of us who are not only ambitious, but actually act on it and eventually succeed. Check out the latest release from Kenton Dunson, a Progressive House remix of his song “Momentum” (from his first Creative Destruction LP) by electronic producer Hollidayrain.

Kenton also recently released a song titled “NFL Flow” to his supporters last Friday in celebration of his album Creative Destruction 2 reaching over 30,000 downloads as well as in hopes that the NFL lockout comes to a close next week. He pulled a beat out from his archives that he made back in college using the NFL on Fox theme as a sample and ripped a verse over it.

Kenton Dunson continues to impress me with these leaks off of his upcoming album ” Creative Destruction 2.” Turn it look combines a hard, guitar riff induced beat with a smooth chorus. Here’s what Kenton had to say about this drop.
One afternoon during a session, I had a bunch of effects hooked to the guitar because I was trying to rip some type of Prince line (impossible) when I fumbled on a a dope riff. So I recorded it and chopped it up…went for some raw 808s and reverse tape deck type snares….I kept it moving. Next, I stepped up to the mic, ripped a couple verses from scratch. This is my music at it’s purest…no big storyline or theme but somehow the theme lives through the hook “Turn it Loose”. That’s exactly what I did. I feel like everyone needs a release from time to time and this was my release in musical form. – Kenton Dunson

Kenton Dunson has been on a tear lately, releasing dope tracks left and right. On this litte dancefloor gem, Kenton teams up with Hollidayrain to create a really unique, easy-flowing track. You can’t help but bump along with this heater.
Here’s what Hollidayrain had to say about the collabo:
For me, producing ‘Up’ started really humbly. After finishing up spring semester, I started something like 7 or 8 original tracks simultaneously; but I had a hard time finishing them knowing that each of them had potential to destroy dancefloors and radios. So, one night, I decided to set those aside and focus solely on sound design and instrumentation using one of my favorite up-and-coming artists, Mord Fustang, as inspiration. I made some really nice sounds using several synths like zebra2 and NI Massive and just let the melodies flow.
