Croydon-based producer Kayper is making room for female producers to be heard. Last week she released her latest track and first single of 2017, called “Sweet Reminders”. In addition to the news of new music, she also announced that she will be heading up her own label called Futurebox. In a male dominated field of music, we give her big ups for this. In case you missed the news Erykah Badu has been owning the internet with news of her forthcoming mixtape and also her one-woman show which featured sock puppets, and potato chips. So what better time for Croydon-based producer Kayper to pay tribute to the queen? Kayper’s latest track “Next Lifetime” samples Badu, while Kayper says “I heard someone playing Erykah Badu’s “Next Lifetime” in their car at the traffic lights while I was driving through Brixton one day and it reminded me of how much I loved that track and her first album which is what inspired me to do my own updated version as a tribute to one of my favorite artists.”
