Albums, Electronic, Mashups, Mix | The Hood Internet – Trillwave 3

Posted by on August 14, 2013

Ahhhhhhh could not be more excited to share the latest release from The Hood Internet. So they’ve got this thing called Trillwave, which is basically a seamless, sensual, and poetic synthesis of popular hip hop vocals over chill, indie instrumental counterparts that make you wonder, Why weren’t these jams paired up before…? And the third installment of Trillwaves does not disappoint. MISHKA really hit the nail on the head by describing Trillwave as the type of mixtape for “when you have to entertain a mixed crowd, or if you need to take a long drive with someone who doesn’t worship at a temple for 808s for church bells.” And, in accordance with the rising trend, Trillwave 3 features quite a few subtle tributes to the sweet and sexy R&B of the 90’s. Oh, radical baby.

You can, and absolutely should, download the previous Trillwaves straight from The Hood Internet’s website here. And catch the tracklist after the break, especially my favorite pairings including Kanye West vs Daft Punk, Miguel vs RL Grime and Kendrick, Drake, and Giraffage.

LIVE FOR THE TRILL.

Hip-Hop, Rap, Videos | G4SHI – Who Made Me (Prod. Smokie Morrison)

Posted by on July 18, 2013

New comer to Fresh New Tracks, Brooklyn MC, G4SHI deserves your attention with this record. “Who Made Me” is as real as it gets. The epic instrumental produced by Smokie Morrison sets the tone, and G4shi delivers with hot fire, no other way to word it. It’s tough out there for up and coming artists, nothing is promised, and it’s a constant battle to prove to the world why some were made to do music… G4shi lets us know that he’s here to stay, and if you don’t like it, listen to the man’s words…

Stromae - Papaoutai

Stromae, the Belgian producer that was slept on until Kanye West rapped over “Alors On Danse” and the track went viral, dropped an awesome video for his track “Papaoutai.” We haven’t heard much from the Belgian producer since the release of his first album “Cheese” but I am glad he released this single as a follow up to the album. “Papaoutai” is the right song for the summer, with that island sound, full of energy, and perfect for the clubs. For all you French speakers, notice the clever play on words with the hook “Papaoutai” phonetically sounding like African dialect, but literally translating to “Papa Ou T’ai” or “Dad Where Are You” in English.

Cover, Hip-Hop | PropaneLv – Blood On The Leaves (Kanye West Cover)

Posted by on June 25, 2013

It’s been 3 weeks since last heard from Lv. Word is, as he confirms in the video above, that he’s been in the studio with D.Shuts finishing up his debut album, Varsity Blues, due sometime in September. On another note, he really goes off on Kanye’s “Blood On The Leaves”. The vocals initially set a tone that is shattered when the beat drops. If you’re the impatient type just go straight to 1:14. Boom! #LTRMN.

Trap | Kanye West – Black Skinhead (Alex Young + Royal’s Horny Remix)

Posted by on June 20, 2013

I had a Twitter revelation the other day that went something along the lines of, oh, “You know you’re old when you can look back on the days when people used to play Kanye West at parties.” But I mean, really, Yeezus is more apt for times like “Take charge and start a riot” than it is “Kickin’ back with the homiez.” However, Alex Young has restored my faith in the fact that I might still be able rock out to Kanye like I used to. This time, rather than at a house party, it’ll be at the front row of one of Alex Young’s shows, which seems more appropriate anyways.

This track is really just an example of the artistic potential that Yeezus presents its listeners with. Looking forward to all the remixes to come.

Trap, Videos | Kanye West, Jay-Z & Big Sean – Clique (Enferno Live Remix) [Video]

ENFERNO absolutely murdered his Trap remix of Kanye West, Jay-Z & Big Sean’s “Clique” released a few weeks ago and today we have the exclusive premiere of his live remix video of the song. In the video, ENFERNO recreates the studio version of remix on the spot live. Just shows how great of performer he is and is on another level when it comes to DJing. Watch the video above and check out the studio version of the remix below if you have yet to check it out.

Pop | Rihanna — Diamonds Remix (Feat. Kanye West)

Posted by on November 17, 2012

Though I have a rapidly-growing repugnance for the kind of dubious, diluted songwriting which plagues Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” my serious infatuation with Kanye’s sense of humor has made this remix irresistible. Today I took my first listen of his almost two-minute-long introductory verse, and whether its intention was as a satire on pop radio lyricism or not, it’s a knockout. Though there are many competent contenders in the race for most un/intentionally hilarious mainstream emcees of our time, for the time being Kanye’s got it on lock. Favorite quotables: “Baby, just step up and kiss the belt…a little lower…that’s wassup,” and “my style like sex in the shower, fresh as fuck.”
