Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Glitch, House | Joe Ford – Culture EP

Posted by on December 9, 2013

Joe Ford - Culture EPJoe Ford is one of the hottest names in bass music right now and the majority of the population doesn’t even know it yet. After his last successful release this year, “The Mission” EP, it comes to no surprise that he has yet again dominated with his “Culture” EP. Joe Ford kicks off this fresh EP with the title track “Culture”. This song is a behemoth, it is like Joe Ford thought to himself “Build up? Nah, I’m going to rape my fans in the face with my opening track on this release”. The waves of bass on this drop are ridiculous, I feel like my ears are being beaten to death by the lightsaber mach 1. “Distilled” tones the EP down a little… just a little. The track brings in the ever growing neuro-hop styling, bouncing you through some great kicks with the addition of that lovely flavor of reese-bass. As a gamer, this is the kind of track I’d want to be blasting my through hordes of noobs with.

I can see “Immobilise” being the theme of a fast traveling Spaceship being chased by another which is firing upon it, weaving in and out of asteroids with the occasional collision. If Michael Bay’s taste in music was worth anyone’s time, he would consider “Immobilise” for a space-flight scene in the next “Transformers” movie. Now, imagine a universe where Lex Luther kills Superman, Cell obliterates the Saiyans, and the Avengers perish at the hands of Ultron. Unopposed, “Villain” would be the track played as these cocky evil doers decimated our planet. If villains actually won, this song would be perfect, but considering they never do, we will just have to sit back and bump out to this badass tune with our imaginations.

Last, but not least we see the return of Asa on yet another EP ender with Inspected. “Real Talk” isn’t the kind of track we have been seeing throughout Joe Ford’s EP, it is the end of the story we have been listening to. “Culture” started us with the intense game changer that set the premise, “Distilled” the attempted fight through the initial bass threat, “Immobilise” the fight to the death, and “Villain” the defeat and utter destruction of what is left. Last, is the calm after the storm, with those left alive wondering what else is to come, the “Real Talk”. This is one of the best works I have heard all year, Joe Ford just set the bar.

Ever since the surfacing of their first tune, Miskatonik, Carvar and Clock have been the talk of the town. Gaining all kinds of support from all of the big names, these guys went from nothing to something in a matter of weeks. To be honest I had never seen anything like it before, but after releasing their single for free it was signed to Firepower Records soon after. With that came some of the most unique and amazing remixes of the tune as well. We have seen some showings from Joe Ford showcasing what he is capable of, but this remix brings out the meaner side in him. When I first heard the preview to this remix my jaw dropped, and still does everyone time I do. The second drop gives me goosebumps like no other. MUST DIE! has been cranking tunes out left and right like it’s nobodies business the past few months. He is an endless library of tunes and this remix just proved that he is going to be creating some of the most unique music in 2013. I haven’t heard many succesful metal/dubstep fusion remixes of any tunes, but this one is easily the best. Also on this EP is another single from the duo called SYGYZY (good luck trying to pronounce this one). I wasn’t to amazed with this track, because it reminded me too much of Miskatonik, but nevertheless it’s still a good tune.

Bass, Dubstep, Glitch | Joe Ford – Bring The Bass

Joe Ford is back at it again after his release last week of ‘Frozen Sound’. He is slowly showing more and more why so many big names like KOAN Sound and Reso support him. This new Neurohop tune has amazing sound design to go along with the creativity of the track. There are so many weird bass noises and details lurking in the background of this tune that with every listen I enjoy the track even more. A big thanks to Neurohop for releasing this amazing freebie. Emerging artist Joe Ford, just released one of his monstrous works entitled ‘Frozen Sound’ on the Medschool compilation release ‘New Blood 013’. He caught my attention early this month when I first saw his tracks being shared in the Neurohop scene as well as through Caliber Music. As of late he has been gaining support from some big names, but most notable are KOAN Sound. His tracks are so detailed and unique it makes it hard to not listen to them on repeat. ‘Frozen Sound’ is a mixture of Glitch and Dubstep with some of the most intricate sounds I have seen featured in a track. The combination of the atmosphere and reverb help create a dreamy state through the track as well as an addition emotion. You can follow Joe ford through his social media’s provided below.

It already goes without saying that xKore has been taking the scene by storm these past few months, but thats not what this post is about. Masq is a new artist I was introduced to when the Getter – Fallout remix competition arose. I still think he holds one of the best remixes in the competition, but that decision is up to Getter. After scavenging through his Soundcloud I ran into this amazing bootleg remix that wasn’t released and I knew needed to be. Masq carries his own unique sound and creates tracks in all areas of the BPM spectrum, from neruohop, to dnb, to dubstep, with even a little free form piano here and there. This track was one of xKore’s older pieces that was never completed/released as far as I know, but Masq took the melody and threw his flavor all over this track to create this more aggressive sounding bootleg remix. Of course we were able to get it as a free download for you guys which you can find below, along with a little background about Masq in the interview we had with him; also below.
