Dubstep | Eva Simons – Renegade (James Egbert Remix)
Posted by Middy on November 10, 2012
Rising American asset, James Egbert has been slowly making a name for himself with his “The Beginning EP” released earlier this year as well as his single “The Legion“. He has been generous enough to give away this remix of “Renegade” and if history tells us anything, free remixes of this caliber can be the thing that takes a career to that next level because they get spread everywhere. The remix provides intricate key work over a complex melody with soothing interludes, led by Eva Simons’ vocals and just enough grinding saws to give the drop the power it possesses. This is a freebee so you have no excuse not to get it immediately.
Electro-House | will.i.am ft. Eva Simons – This Is Love (Afrojack Remix)
Posted by Middy on August 7, 2012
The Steve Angello produced single “This is Love” from will.i.am and Eva Simons was bound to have to have some heavy hitters come to the rescue and elevate it to its full potential. The original was a pop song through and through and served its purpose as a radio friendly song, but that is not Steve Angello’s calling card. Afrojack brings his heavy dutch / electro style to the track, mixing flawlessly high pitched dutch bleeps and grungy electro stabs. Coming off of hit track “Rock The House“, Afrojack is showing that despite unleashing the monster that is Paris Hilton onto the dance music world, his legacy will remain unblemished due to his prolific output of great productions. Also check out the James Egbert remix that takes a more complextro spin with big room interludes.
Dubstep, Electro-House | James Egbert – Legion (Original Mix) & In The Beginning EP

I hadn’t heard of 24 year-old James Egbert prior to tonight but was almost immediately happy that I did. The young producer has already managed to cultivate a formidable mastery of the filthier side of electro-house, a feat that is most definitely on display in his newest original mix. “Legion” is a triple threat, if you will, showcasing Egbert’s ability to combine catchy hooks with heavy synthwork and top quality production. This track is a monster and the drop at 2:47 is pure unadulterated awesomeness — quite possibly one of the best I’ve heard in a while.
Read on to preview his recent EP, “In The Beginning,” which brings more banging electro-house, excellent vocal tracks, and some gritty dubstep that still features great melodies.
