Bass | Listen To The Western & Eastern Culture Collide With Koinu’s “Gainax Bounce”

Posted by on April 21, 2016

Kpop and Japanese culture are coming together stronger than ever – Koinu’s sound is at an abstract intersection where popular styles of western electronic music and the recent global explosion of the tradionally eastern music trends collide.

Genres like Kawaii and artists like Porter Robinson have showcased snapshots of Western culture, in particular North America, slowing getting turned on to eastern music trends. Over time, it’s only natural that something like Koinu would be born our of these colliding cultures. I suppose we got lucky Varien filled in the gap, given his experience and deeper themes his artistry typically displays.

Koinu’s latest “Gainax Bounce” is an interesting ratio of bass and eastern vibes – a unique notch in the belt of releases the solo artist has pushed in the last few weeks.

If you like stand-out meaning and effort behind a sound, Koinu is your guy.

Alternative | NoMBe – Kemosabe

This is my first post of NoMBe, but oh my oh my, this guy is not messing around when it comes to writing amazing records. Everything from the songwriting, the melodic production, and the unreal drums, NoMBe is a force! I think this is one act to follow, and I simply don’t have the words to describe how much heat i’m hearing! I expect really big things from this star in the making!

Don Diablo is insane. Guy is a just a machine when it comes to these remixes. He doesn’t ever drop a bad tune. Do you know how hard that is? Set to release on June 14th, Don Diablo gets recruited by Rudimental to take their tune to a whole new level. Don Diablo is life. Don Diablo is fire flames.

Nu Disco | Throttle brings the funk with latest remix

Throttle drips with talent which he puts to use with his newest remix of Conrad Sewell’s “Hold Me Up”. This tune gives the vibe of a lit-up dance floor with a bunch people wearing bell bottoms and a creepy guy in the corner with a massive afro… my kind of party. In all seriousness this song is fire and is sure to get the party moving in the right direction. Always love hearing Throttle’s unique production style. Give it a listen and get your freak on.

Trap | Jayceeoh And B-Sides Flip B.o.B’s “Still In This Bitch”

Posted by on January 8, 2015

Just a few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to catch Interlock’s Jayceeoh at Lights All Night. Not only is his DJ’ing ability second to none, he’s also a great guy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Jayceooh was arguably the most under-rated artist at Lights All Night, and he proves that with a new offering in the form of his B-Sides assisted “Still In This Bitch” remix on Super 7 Records. Melodic and infectious, Jayceooh and B-Sides’s “Still In This Bitch” will be a record on repeat for weeks to come.

Mashups, Progressive House | EDX vs. Disclosure – Latch For Life (Jack Eye Jones Club Mash)

edx

Few artists can pull off a quality mashup nowadays. It seems as though those times are over or, at the very least, numbered. Most of the glorious mashup DJ’s from the turn of the decade recognize this and are attempting to transition into original pieces. Sadly, few make it. However, Jack Eye Jones, a master of the original track trade, comes from the other side of the spectrum. Perhaps that’s why he can craft songs like “Latch For Life” and get away with it. The guy has a knack for these mashups so lend this track an ear. And for the snobby folks who refuse to consume inbred works, tune into my favorite Latch remix by Teemid.

And for good measure, my favorite Latch remix…

Tchami does it again. The guy can’t be beat. Future house is the new religion.
