Progressive House | Eric Turner vs. Avicii – Dancing In My Head (Avicii’s Been Cursed Mix)

Posted by on August 12, 2012

Capitol Records threw us a curve ball here by not only releasing what I and many believe to be the better and more polished version of this track before the more radio friendly Tom Hangs edit, they also released it a few days before their original announced release date. The track brings together Avicii’s masterfully crafted melodies and playful arps and lets them shine with Eric Turner’s vocals accentuating the builds of subtly complex and powerful bass lines and deft key work. With an apparent “Epic” announcement coming this week rumored to be a NYC gig, Avicii is showing that he is still one of the biggest assets in house music today.

Preview, Progressive House | Avicii vs. Eric Turner – Dancing In My Head (Tom Hangs Mix) [Preview]

Avicii why? You have such a gem of a track here and you ruin the full potential of the track by adding vocals to the break. However, it is great to see that this is finally on the path to getting a release. While the gorgeous melody crafted by Avicii still remains prominent, I cannot help but feel that the break would be better if Avicii’s artistry stood alone and was not competing with Eric Turner’s vocals. That being said, this is going to be a massive hit, there is no arguing that. Hopefully this will come with a dub version or the version he plays out, “Avicii’s Been Cursed Mix” when it is released soon on Capitol Records to satisfy all his fans and make a more club friendly track.

Pop, Videos | Chris Brown x Rihanna, Eric Turner

If you’ve been reading the tabloids the past few days you may have seen the rumors floating around that Chris Brown and Rihanna have/will reunite.  RiRi celebrated her 24th birthday with a celeb packed private party at her Hollywood mansion over the weekend and after some complications getting legal permission to enter, Breezy made his way in to share a slice of Rihanna’s cake.  In addition, Missing Info has confirmed Chris Brown has recorded both a rap verse and a singing verse for the official remix to Rihanna’s single “Birthday Cake” off Talk That Talk.  The song is only 1:18 minutes long right now and almost seems like Rihanna has had this planned for longer than we think.  Monday, Rihanna’s birthday, has potential to ignite a storm of criticism towards Rihanna from the same people who despise CB after he beat Rihanna back in ’09.  At the end of the day, all personal BS aside, if this remix really does happen, it’s going to be a crazy song.

Had to share that, now for the video.  I knew this track was going to be a major hit right when it dropped.  I can’t say Breezy’s Grammy performance gave this track justice (vocally), but his acrobatic footwork was in full effect.  This video has a similar plot to “Yeah x3” where CB blocked off the street and ensued an electric dance festival.

Below is another track I’ve had in my library for several weeks now.  I overlooked it because I only had a radio rip, but I grabbed the CDQ yesterday, found the video, and had to share it.  Eric Turner, a pop singer/songwriter native to Boston linked up with Lupe and UK spitter Tinie Tempah for a catchy new radio jam.

Hip-Hop | Lazee – Better Than The Best (Prod. Rusko)

Posted by on November 28, 2011

I only recently became aware of Swedish rapper Lazee and the tracks I have heard thus far have been impressive. From his catchy Ultra Records release “Hold On” to his single “Young N Restless” featuring Eric Turner, it is easy to see he is a rapper to watch. Having already established a heavy presence in Europe, he has recently been readying up his U.S. debut working with John Legend’s inhouse producers Phatboi Entertainment as well as many others.

The video above shows him in the studio with Phatboi Entertainment as well as FNT regular Kenton Dunson (who previews a new track of his as well). I believe the tracks previewed by Lazee in the video are off his most recent album Suppose To Happen that is out now and an album I definitely need to check out when I get the chance.

I did happen to track down the last song in the video titled “Better Than The Best”, which Lazee describes as “some European crazy shit”. It turns out that the track was produced by none other than Rusko himself and was off his First Class Five Stars – Season 2 mixtape released awhile back (and seemingly impossible to find). He didn’t lie, the track is insane and a must download. Be on the lookout for more music from Lazee in the near future.
