Alternative, Drum & Bass, Electronic | Max Frost – White Lies (Tune In Crew Remix) // Tune In Crew – Still Waters

Two big new tracks from one of our favorite duos out of France, the Tune In Crew. The first is a high energy, drum n’ bass-infused remix of Max Frost’s “White Lies,” which switches up the vocal blend of the original while weaving in a rich combination of live instruments (is that a maracas?). An unexpected but wonderfully seamless trap break mellows out the vibe midway through before the track hurtles back into a spray of fast-paced kicks. The second track switches gears considerably; drawing inspiration from epic movie soundtracks, the twangy, instrumental “Still Waters” is yearning and bluesy and would no doubt be right at home in a Tarantino montage. Stream both below.

mat zo damage control

We have seen some incredible albums this year in dance music. From Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories” to Andrew Bayer’s “If It Were You, We’d Never Leave” to Disclosure, Pretty Lights, BT, Feed Me, Avicii, Kaskade, Gesaffelstein and Sub Focus’s albums, this year has seen the resurgence of the full length LP. You can now add Mat Zo’s “Damage Control” to that list of stunning albums.

The world is sleeping on this drum n bass remix by Australian producer Studio-X of StoneBridge & Caroline D’Amore’s “Live Life” record. StoneBridge is a legend in the EDM game, and I was introduced to Mrs D’Amore via her EDM show Heartbeatz Radio on Skee 24/7. Together they put together an uplifting house record to keep us all motivated, just like the hook says “live life…today!” Studio-X’s remix makes this track even bigger adding synths for melody, and speeding the track up a bit. No doubt about it, get this this free download, and blast this tune!  Must listen and must download!

Rudimental

Rudimental have taken the world by storm. Their single “Feel The Love” rose to the top of the charts in the UK and became a worldwide phenomenon. They have not stopped there with a host of other chart topping singles like “Not Giving In” and “Waiting All Night”. Their live show is about as energetic and “live” as there is in dance music, bringing what they call “a carnival atmosphere” to every festival and city they visit. The foursome have come a long way with their album “Home”, showing their strong UK dance influences, while keeping it soulful and unique on every track.

We had the chance to chat with them after their show with Emili Sandé two weeks ago in Central Park and talk about their incredible music videos, trying to build on their success and what they have coming up, including tracks with The Game and Ed Shereen. Click past the jump for the full interview, but before you do, watch their video for “Right Here”, it is epic. You can grab their now Platinum selling album “Home” on iTunes here. Big congrats to the guys for that!

Progressive House | Nervo – Hold On (Vicetone Remix)

Nervo - Hold On (Viceton Remix)

On the heels of their Electric Zoo MainStage announcement, Vicetone release their hotly anticipated remix of Nervo’s recent single “Hold On“, originally previewed last month in Nervo’s radio show, Nervo Nation. The Dutch duo have seen a meteoric rise to fame in the past year with their crisp and powerful remixes, while adding a few choice originals to the bunch.

This remix is no exception, as the Protocol Records signees bring yet another potent melodic composition, with a guitar driven build, taking full advantage of Nervo’s vocals, and a short but punchy drop, that is sure to seep into sets this summer. It is great to see them getting noticed in a big way by DJs, first Nicky Romero and now Nervo, tabbing them for this remix. Look out for them touring North American this summer, some of the dates have already been announced on their Facebook page. You can also grab a minimal remix from R3hab & Silvio & Ecomo, as well as a full-bodied drum-n-bass remix from Dimension.

UPDATE: You can now grab the remix for free via Nervo’s soundcloud below as a thank you for 500,000 Facebook fans, so if you have not gotten the track yet do it now!

House | Porter Robinson & Mat Zo – Easy (Remixes)

Mat Zo & Porter Robinson - Easy

It was not only an eventful past few weeks for Mat Zo because of the release of the “Easy” remixes, deleting his twitter account, and also the widely publicized battering and stealing done to “Rebound” done by will.i.am and Chris Brown. He was known for not being afraid to speak his mind and saying controversial things, a welcome relief from the “OMG LAST NIGHT WAS AWESOME GUYS” tweets that riddle your newsfeed when you follow DJs, so he will be missed. The original has become an early year anthem and will stand the test of time as one of the great tracks from the two rising superstars. While the original will remain a favorite of mine for a very long time, the remixes assembled by Anjunabeats and Ministry of Sound are outstanding, calling on a wide variety of styles, from the drum n bass veteran Andy C, to the grungy electro remix of Botnek, and the smooth, techy “Bright as Day” remix from Modek. The last remix comes from Frenchman Lemaitre, a name that we have criminally neglected here at FNT (I am sorry), as his funky, french touch gives the track a whole new refreshing sound. Check both of them out on tour in North America at the following dates after the jump.

DJ-Set | Mat Zo Essential Mix 2/8/13

Following up Eric Prydz’s legendary essential mix last week, Mat Zo had the unfortunate job of trying to follow up that otherworldly two hour mix. Mat Zo manages to mix 75 songs into the 2 hours given to him, making for some very quick transitions and interesting drops. The mix takes you on a journey of genre and style moving through not just trance or house, but through tech, nu-disco and even some drum n bass, as be used to make it himself under his MRZO alias. The mix is nothing like you would hear from a Mat Zo club set, but rather the eclectic taste of the artist and displaying his care free attitude for barriers in music. The mix features new tracks from his upcoming album, including the funky “Pyramid Scheme”, which we have heard in his sets for the past few months and also has some exclusive cuts from The M MAchine and fellow Anjunabeats label mates Andrew Bayer and Norin & Rad. Tracklist after the jump.
