FYI, News | Best Soundcloud Alternatives for 2016

Ok, there’s been lots of news over the past few months about the end of Soundcloud and we wanted to put together a quick list of our favorite Soundcloud alternatives to check out. With all of the uncertainty, here are some great places to diversify where you’re connecting with fans:

Bandcamp – This has been around for a while now, and a great place to sell music. It definitely lacks some social features like repost’s and comments, but definitely a great place to sell music if you have a loyal fanbase. It might seem a bit old fashioned to use Bandcamp, but it’s a sure thing for selling music.

Mixcloud – An amazing place to post mixes, maybe not the best place to put all of your music, but a great home for your mixes. Lots of radio shows and DJ’s are using it and seems like an obvious fit for your set.

Fanburst – The newcomer we recently discovered with an awesome way to share Albums and EP’s. The best part about Fanburst is that it’s totally free and has a powerful set of analytics tools. Definitely worth checking out, it’s pretty much Soundcloud but free for artists.

YouTube – Let’s not forget about the king of music and video sharing, with the recent launch of YouTube Red and a massive user base, Youtube is a tip top place to put your music. While YouTube lacks some social features, it makes up in the userbase. YouTube should definitely be in your swiss army knife of services.

The Snake Pit, which takes place on the infield of the historic racing site, is becoming one of the main attractions for the race. With names like Skrillex and Zeds Dead for this year, and others such as A-Trak, Steve Aoki, and Kaskade playing in years past, its easy to understand why it’s becoming so popular. There’s no denying that what Gryffin has accomplished in the last year is impressive. The NYC-based multi-instrumentalist was the man behind some of the year’s biggest remixes with his uplifting and anthemic takes on Tove Lo, Maroon 5, BANKS, and more, before he capped the year with the release of his “Heading Home,” his debut original production. Gryffin was even able to parlay the success of “Heading Home” into two sell-out shows in Los Angeles and New York for his inaugural live performances. Now, with his live show complete and some serious wind in his sails, Gryffin is ready to set off on his “Heading Home” live tour, which will send the talented house maestro to major cities across the US and Canada like San Francisco, Toronto, Washington D.C., and more. Gryffin’s “Heading Home” live tour promises to bring the musicianship and artistry that has come to define his music to a larger-than-life club setting, while still maintaining the energy of a dance set.

When I first laid my hands on Playy. I was skeptical. Apps aimed at the dance market and/or the loyalist/hyper-social music fan demo are a dime a dozen.Yet, Playy app is the opposite of such criticisms. Playy offers a series of tools that create a win-win scenario for all players involved, while providing higher than average content on socials. Here’s the logistics, the app allows you to use music from Playy’s ever-growing catalog to capture real time moments, essentially making a montage of sorts while using artists music legally. Yet, Playy goes much further than this. Their well-designed and fully-functional software allows you to capture various parts of the song, utilize editing tools, rotate the order of created clips in real-time, while adding finishing touches and effects. Once finished, your video is posted to your profile and feed. Where friends – and the artist of the song you used – are notified and can view, enjoy, and share. Imagine it like a Snapchat and Facebook combined with awesome theme song inserts that both artists and friends can be notified to see.
