Albums, Alternative, Chill, Pop | Outasight Is Up To Trouble With His New Single ‘Big Trouble’

‘One Hit Wonder’. That one phrase that every artist has nightmares about. For the Yonkers, New York native Outasight, this was starting to become reality.

In 2012 everyone was listening to his single ‘Tonight Is The Night’; your older sister, your little cousin, your mom, even your grandfather knew ‘EVERYBODY GO!’. He was touring nationally, performed at the NHL All Star game and at the age of 29 had finally ‘made it’. Now what? He followed up with some very solid singles ‘Now or Never’ and my favorite, ‘Shine (featuring Chiddy Bang)’, off of the album ‘Nights Like These’. Unfortunately that doesn’t cut it when you had one of the biggest, if not the biggest song of that calendar year.

Over the last year Outasight has gone independent, moved from New York to Los Angeles and has a new sound. While his sound has always had undertones of positivity and good vibes masked by pop production, his new sound is funky as fuck. Catchy guitar riffs, old school horns, funky bass, mixed with some pop and not to mention the clever and catchy writing that got us all hooked on Outasight in the first place. We recently caught up with Outasight and here is what he had to say about moving to Los Angeles and how his new sound came together…

I moved to Los Angeles around a year ago and right away got into the more laid back attitude. I would just throw little parties and bbq’s and the soundtrack was a bunch of 70’s and 80’s funk . I started jamming a bunch with my buddies Cook and Shiben, and everything turned out real funky.  The Wild Life was the first track we made, and behind the scenes it ended up getting a bunch of opportunities.  The whole process just felt real natural.  The record has horns everywhere courtesy of my man Carlos Sosa, it just jams.  I’m excited to share it with everyone.

A few months back he debuted his new sound with the single ‘The Wild Life’ which found its way on to the latest run of Bud Light Lime commercials. Today, we get the self titled track off his forthcoming project ‘Big Trouble’. This single is refreshing. If you don’t immediately add this to your summer, beach, or pool playlist you’re missing out.

With music like this you can expect your mother, grandfather, little cousin and older sister will be singing Outasight again very, very soon.

16-year-old Long Island rapper Chris Miles contemplates the stability of stardom with “Psychotic,” the lead single from his forthcoming Milestones EP. In the pensive track, Miles examines where he is in his career and if the life he’s headed towards will satisfy his aspirations or make him “Psychotic.” Produced by Nick Monson, the instrumental’s heightened energy makes way for Miles’ confident verses illustrating his drive towards a life in the spotlight that he’s reluctant to embrace, weighing the positives and negatives that come along with it. “I am confused, is this life really what it’s cracked up to be,” Miles asks while in the midst of a national tour.

DFLV is proof that such amazing music is coming out of France right now. I wasn’t surprised when he told me the chords for the melody just came to him when he sitting in front of the piano. He contacted Blest Jones for some vocals and Jones really delivers. Check out this track and start following DFLV. His new mixtape is coming soon and we hope to hear more from him sooner than later.

Poly Pines just wants wants to make people happy. He has some of the greatest feel good future trap music I have heard. Reminds me a lot of Wave Racer and that Aussie sound. I talked to Poly Pines and his inspiration for the overall feel and name of the track came from situations in his own life and wanting to escape with someone special. His musical and production ideas as well as that “Nintendo Zelda-esque” feel are inspired by Chet Porter. Poly Pines is turning 20 next month and we hope he has something up his sleeve!
