Let me level with you: I’m not entirely sure how to categorize this bouncy, synthy, delicious groove of a track from Austin-based DJ and producer Blaz. Future beats? Disco-wave? Nu-garage? There is very little music that I have the ability to listen to while I write or do other creative work. That being said, here I sit writing this post while being whisked away to a deserted island accompanied by the stylings of Ace Shocka. The NYU student and music producer has put together a three-track EP that sounds akin to a brilliant future-wave spin on Clams Casino.
The EP could fit perfectly on a label like Soulection, and perhaps even topped by some vocals from the likes of Waldo, GoldLink, or Vic Mensa.
WAV is an exciting start for this young gun, and it’ll be exciting where he takes it from here.

Slinger might’ve called this his festival remix of Stromae’s “Papaoutai” cause it sounds like he took the original song, stuffed it in a racecar, took off with it, and you’re in the passenger seat with no seatbelt on! When I saw Papaoutai in my inbox, I knew this was going to be good, the original was actually my first write up on the site, and probably one of the illest track I’ve heard in a long time! Hot damn this Enferno remix of Steve Aoki featuring Waka Flocka Flame’s “Rage The Night Away” goes hard, or better yet, it turns the fuck up! From a progressive house build up with vocals that sound like they’re from Justin Timberlake, to Wacka’s signature tag line ” Brick Squaaddddd,” the drop will make you lose your shit, like you see on festival recaps with oceans of people jumping up and down to a banger, just like that. Throwback to 2010, when Myth Syzer and Kaytranada worked on a tune together called “Widescreen,” and little did they know 4 years later their collaboration would resurface and take the internet by storm. With “Widescreen” you get a hip-hop instrumental which could serve as an homage to the late J.
