A Deeper Look Inside Electric Paradise’s Phase 1 Lineup
Posted by jewcebox on November 5, 2015
This December, the Dominican Republic is in for one of the best festivals to hit the Caribbean. Electric Paradise is making its triumphant return to its beach-front venue in Punta Cana, and it’s already set to be an unforgettable affair, even with just phase 1 of its lineup announced. Everyone from Chromeo to Hot Since 82 will be gracing their multiple stage setup, in the midst of many other attractions. In celebration of the first artists being announced, we’ve put it upon ourselves to highlight some of our favorite acts on the bill and give you a deeper look into them. If all of this sounds good to you already, buy tickets to the festival here. More artists are to be announced next week so keep an eye out!
• Porter Robinson
Mr. Porter Robinson was the first signee on Skrillex’s OWSLA label, he toured the world DJing, and then entirely rebranded himself with his Worlds album. After a 180 turnaround of sound and style, Porter Robinson introduced the Worlds live show concept where he sang, played keys, and percussion, all with a new stage design and visuals that he specifically created for the show. Expect this at Electric Paradise.
• Gorgon City
UK house figureheads, Gorgon City, have been on a tear ever since they released their debut album last year. This year, they played several of the biggest festivals in the world, like Coachella, and they’re just coming off of a massive run in the U.S. Their brand of deep, yet radio-friendly, house has fully infiltrated the global market, and we couldn’t be more excited for what they’ll bring with their outstanding DJ set to-be.
The Funk phenomenons, Chromeo, have been a staple in the crossover dance realm for many years now. With hit tracks like “Tenderoni,” “Bonafide Lovin,” and “Fancy Footwork,” they’ve cemented their place amongst music’s elite and they’re not going anywhere. As a band/live act, they always bring the heat, so they’re surely not to miss if you need a break from DJs.
• Moon Boots
Arguably one of the smaller acts on the phase 1 lineup, Moon Boots always holds his own, and there’s a reason why he’s been one to watch over the years. As one of the integral French Express signees, he’s made a name for himself with his accessible and catchy house music that’s perfect for a tropical setting like the Dominican Republic in December. If you haven’t heard his recent release on Anjunadeep, check it out now and get excited.
